Welcome to Cougar VSA!
Our Mission Statement
We, the Vietnamese Students Association strive to be the most passionate organization in raising interest and awareness of Vietnamese culture toward the student population at Washington State University as well as the surrounding community in Pullman, WA, through cultural events and activities of various scales. In addition, we aim to foster a kindred spirit amongst students who are inclined to expand their interpersonal network, both academically and socially.
Our goals
Relaunched as a Registered Student Organization (RSO) in 2006, the Vietnamese Student Association (VSA) is the only Vietnamese organization serving the Vietnamese college student community in Pullman. Today, we are one of the more prominent and most active organizations at WSU. VSA promotes the interests and awareness of Vietnamese culture in the Pullman community while functioning as a means of social engagement. You don’t have to be Vietnamese to be a member of VSA because we’re a cultural awareness club and not a racially defined club. WSU VSA is dedicated towards improving cultural awareness on the campus as well as providing support for those who come from a common background.
To accomplish such goals, we organize events for the students and faculties at the Washington State University and local communities. Our two biggest annual events include the Vietnamese Lunar New Year Celebration also known as “Tet”, and the complete culture exhibition of Vietnam called “Footprints of Vietnam”.
The Vietnamese Students Association is not just about being Vietnamese ( Vietnamese-American) on the Washington State University campus. We’re dedicated towards getting students from all backgrounds involved with and adjusting to campus life as well as providing an easy-going environment for students to meet each other and make friends. Since VSA is also involved with other cultural groups, being part of our club gets you in touch with other organizations such as the Asian American Pacific American Student Coalition (APASC) and numerous other clubs. We openly encourage all students and staffs at Washington State University as well as the community of Pullman to participate.
